Violence Will Increase Due To Economic Crisis
Fiscal General, Francisco Dall’Anese, said this week that 2009 might bring about an increase in violence in the country due to the international economic crisis that is starting to make inroads here.

“The crisis is expected to hit the middle class and increase violence. Considering this scenario, the Fiscalia (Attorney General’s Office) will continue with its policy of strict prosecution, within the limits of the law,” Dall’Anese.

A few weeks ago, Costa Rica’s Fiscalia was chosen as the most transparent in the continent, according to the Centre for Justice Studies of the Americas.
