First Drop Of The Year
In Gasoline Prices
Approved
The first drop in the
prices of gasoline will
occur next week when the
lower prices approved by
the Autoridad Reguladora
de los Servicios
Públicos (Aresep) takes
effect.
Regular or "plus"
gasoline will drop by
¢66 colones, super will
drop ¢75 and diesel ¢95
colones.
The new prices will take
effect the day after the
reduction is published
in the official
government publication,
La Gaceta, which is
expected either on
Tuesday or Wednesday.
With the price drop, the
prices at the pumps will
be ¢408 down from ¢474
colones for a litre of
regular; ¢416 down from
¢488 for super; and,
¢427 down from ¢522 for
diesel. Cooking gas and
aviation fuels will also
drop.
But, don't get too used
to the lower prices as
the Aresep is currently
reviewing a request to
increase fuel prices by
¢16 colones for a litre
of super, ¢18 for
regular and ¢3 for
dieseld. That increase
is based on the price of
crude oil on
international markets
between December 25,
2008 and January 8,
2009. The higher prices
would take effect in mid
February.
