Celebrating the 4th of July in Costa Rica
Even when you are living abroad, there are
opportunities to celebrate the 4th of July.
The largest celebration in Costa Rica is
hosted by The American Colony Committee
in Costa Rica and open to all U.S.
citizens and their immediate family and
proof of citizenship is required.
This picnic was started over 40 years ago.
It was designed to give children of U.S.
citizens living abroad an idea of a
traditional Independence Day celebration.
The celebration will feature hot dogs and
beer, square dancing as well as rock music.
There will be a traditional flag ceremony.
The celebration takes place Friday, July 3rd
from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. It is being
held at the Cerveceria picnic grounds.
The charge for the picnic is $4.00 U.S. and
children under 5 are free. They will not
accept credit cards or large bills.
Many other non-profit organizations join
with The American Colony to make this a
special event for the central valley. The
Republicans Living Abroad, The Democrats
Living Abroad and CRUSA are just some of the
organizations in community service tents at
the picnic.
