Colombia Confirms Two More Deaths of A/H1N1 Flu

Bogota - Colombia on Monday confirmed two more deaths of A/H1N1 flu, bringing the country's death toll to four.

A 28-year-old woman from the capital Bogota, and a 13-year-old girl from the metropolis Soacha died on July 4 and July 6, respectively, after being infected with the A/H1N1 flu virus, the Social Protection Ministry said.

The other two victims are a 24-year-old woman who died from severe pneumonia derived from the A/H1N1 flu on June 4, and a 28-year-old man who died from multi-organs decline caused by the virus on June 19. Both of them were from Bogota, according to Manuel Villamizar, the Health Secretary in Bogota.

Colombia so far has reported 127 confirmed cases and 1,732 possible cases of the pandemic. The government has tightened control at hospitals and health centers to avoid a large-scale outbreak of the disease in the country.
