Honduras Condemns
US Blockade of Cuba
San Pedro Sula, Honduras - Honduras General
Workers Trade Union (CGTH) Secretary General
Daniel Duron condemned in San Pedro Sula the
US blockade against Cuba before the
Organization of American States.
Duron participated during the talks held
between the heads of the delegations of the
member countries with representatives of the
workers, within the 39th OAS General
Assembly, that began Monday.
The union leader said any policy of a state,
that affects the people, as the one applied
against Cuba, is considered an act of
violence.
The 39th OAS General Assembly will be
officially inaugurated Tuesday, and last
until Wednesday night, with 27 Foreign
Ministers of the 34 countries members
attending.
Duron also said, in an interview with Prensa
Latina, he favors the annulment of the 1962
resolution that suspended Cuba's membership
to the OAS.
Duron also highlighted that there are many
forms of violence in all countries, like
poverty, the uneven distribution of wealth,
social marginalization and exclusion, which
are worse than violence.
The President of Honduras Electrical Workers
Union, Miguel Aguilar, also expressed his
condemnation of the blockade and the
solidarity of Honduran workers with Cuba.
The 39th OAS General Assembly opened here on
Monday, with meetings with labour, business
and civilian society sectors. The official
opening gala is scheduled for today. |
