Brazil FM Visits Colombia

Brasilia - Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim is expected to kick off a state visit of Colombia to discuss bilateral and regional issues at the invitation of his peer Jaime Bermudez.

On Monday in Cartagena, Amorim and Bermudez are scheduled to co-chair the first meeting of the Brazil-Colombia Bilateral Committee, established by presidents of both nations on February 17 this year, on occasion of the visit of Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.

A release issued by the Brazilian Foreign Ministry says that both Amorim and Bermudez are expected to review results of the meetings of the 6th Working Group of the Brazil-Colombia Technical Cooperation and of the 4th Joint Committee on Culture, Education and Sports.

They are also scheduled to discuss the results of the Third Meeting of the Brazil-Colombia Executive Working Group on an agenda including activities of the Program of Import Competitive Replacement.

Amorim is scheduled to be received by President Alvaro Uribe before travelling to Cartagena on Monday.
