''Yes I Can'' Working in Honduras
Tegucigalpa - 58
Honduran municipalities have been declared
free of illiteracy thanks to the Cuban
teaching method ''Yes I can'', which has
been successfully employed in numerous
countries worldwide.
The completely new program that joins
letters and numbers for the education
process has allowed 43,146 citizens of
Honduras to begin to read and write in only
a few weeks.
Today is a very important day because we
have taken the first step towards
eradicating illiteracy in Honduras, said the
Education Minister Marlon Breve in his
speech at the Student Day ceremony.
Meanwhile the President of the Teachers
Union, Saturnino Sanchez, highlighted the
importance of the Cuban method that has
allowed over 2 million people to learn to
read and write all over the world.
'Yes I Can' has been effective wherever it
has been implemented and the people that
have made used of it have achieved their
goal, said Sanchez.
The United Nations Education Science and
Cultural Organization has twice awarded the
Cuban method with the Rey Sejong prize for
contributing to the improvement in
educational worldwide. |
