Venezuela Probes Conspiracy
Caracas - Venezuelan deputies of parliament
demanded that the Attorney General investigated a
possible conspiracy with participation of Vice
admiral (r) Rafael Huizi Clavier.
Deputy Mario Isea told reporters this is a case of
conspiracy and civilian rebellion, and instigation
of a military rebellion that is punishable by the
Venezuelan law.
He explained that they are retired officials, headed
by Huizi Clavier, and confirmed in an interview
broadcast on television on June 10 that the
conspiracy also includes businessman Edgar Reguetti.
That statement led to an investigation by the
Attorney General of the Republic, as well as
Military prosecutor that is working simultaneously,
in depth, to discover the facts.
Isea indicated that the retired official released
part of a document that calls for military action
and promotes a military alliance although it is not
clear if it refers to retired or active officials.
Previously a recording of a conversation between
Huizi and Edgar analyzing actions to destabilize the
government was presented to the National Assembly.
Isea heads a special parliamentary commission
investigating charges of assassination of President
Hugo Chavez that reached the conclusion that there
is sufficient evidence to charge the vice admiral of
conspiracy. |
