AH1N1 Cases Climbs To 209 In Costa Rica

The ministerio de Salud (Health Ministry) confirmed 30 more cases of AH1N1 flu virus cases in Costa Rica, raising the total number of infections to 209. One death has been registered in Costa Rica.

The ministra de Salud, Maria Luisa Avila, confirmed the additional cases, saying that her officials have investigated a total of 2.904 suspected cases, of which 2.520 have been discarded and 162 still waiting test results, that could bring the number of confirmed cases even higher.

Avila said that the majority of the infected are under the age of 20 and no obvious difference between the genders.

To date, only two of the country's seven provinces have not reported any cases. Limon and Puntarenas are AH1N1 free, said ministra Avila.
