With Cuba
Quevedo, Ecuador - The Ecuadorian
Movement in Solidarity with Cuba is celebrating its
National Assembly here Saturday, and will discuss
actions to increase friendship and support to the
Caribbean Island.
The event will take place at the Cristal Palace in
this city with the participation of representatives
of Greater Antilles friendship groups from the 24
provinces of this Andean nation.
The president of the National Coordinator in
Solidarity with the Cuban people, Fidel Chiriboga,
emphasized the meeting will evaluate the activities
developed during the last 12 months and will
coordinate actions to demand the end of the
economic, commercial, financial and travel blockade
of US against the island.
That cruel policy, rejected on several occasions by
the over 180 nations at the UN General Assembly, has
to end, he emphasized.
The 14th Assembly will take place at a very
important moment for the Latin American peoples,
when voices are raising all over the world demanding
justice for the Five Cubans unjustly imprisoned in
US jails for preventing terrorist actions against
their country, he stressed.
We invite all of you to take part in this event that
constitute a space for information, friendship and
solidarity with the people of that island that has
contributed greatly to the emancipation of Latin
America with its resistance and development.
Before the meeting the Ecuadorian delegates will
march from the Mothers Park in this city to the
monument in honor of ex president general Eloy
Alfaro who was one of the greatest defenders and in
solidarity with the liberation of Cuba from the
Spanish yoke in the 19th century.
The assembly will finish in the afternoon with the
Quevedo Declaration that will include a call for the
US to put end to a blockade imposed to the Island
and the release of the Five Cuban anti-terrorist. |
