Panama - Panamanian
president-elect Ricardo Martinelli on
Tuesday promised that he will keep economic
growth in the country and maintain the
current foreign policy.
After a meeting with incumbent President
Martin Torrijos to coordinate the power
transition, Martinelli said that "We will
surpass the difficulties and we will keep
the economic growth."
Martinelli, who will be president of the
country for the next five years, said that
despite the world economic crisis, better
times for the country will come.
"We are going to have a strong and
productive transition. We must give a signal
of trust to the Panamanian people and all
the investors that we will put their
interests first," Martinelli said.
Martinelli also said that his administration
will focus on the social, health education
and transportation problems in Panama.
Martinelli announced some members of his new
