ICE Ends Grace Period For Paying Telephone Bill

The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) has for some time maintained a practice of giving its customers eight (8) days grace to pay their telephone bills, that it is would not cut service until eight days after the bill was due.

However, in a press release, the state telecom announced that it will cut service the day following the due date and customers have to request a reconnection, which entails visiting an ICE agency and be charged a reconnection fee.

In addition, ICE informs that an unpaid balance on one telecom service can prejudice another. For instance, having an outstanding balance on a home telephone bill, can affect the service of a cellular telephone and/or internet connection, if all the services are in the name of one customer.

ICE officials say that customers can check their outstanding balance and due date by simply calling 187 or going online at www.grupoice.com or click here.
