El Salvador, Venezuela to Boost Ties
Caracas- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
ordered setting up a commission dealing with
future joint cooperation projects with El
Salvador. Chavez gave his orders after
meeting Tuesday night in Caracas with El
Salvador's president-elect Mauricio Funes.
We will start working immediately, said
Chavez in a an official release.
According to the text, the talk between the
Venezuelan president and Funes focused on
the Petrocaribe oil initiative, bilateral
trade, energy and social projects.
Chavez also announced his attendance to
Fune�s June 1 presidential inauguration.
On June 1, Funes, who was the candidate of
the Farabundo Marti National Liberation
Front (FMLN) in last March elections, will
put an end to 20 years of right-wing
Nationalist Republican Alliance (Arena)
party governments in El Salvador.
Funes said his government will especially
work for the poor and vulnerable sectors. he
also lauded the process of changes President
Chavez has led for over a decade in
Venezuela.
The Salvadoran president elect also thanked
Venezuela's support to his country in the
energy and health care fields, especially
through the Miracle Operation eye care
program.
"Only solidarity will help transform our
nations," he said. |
