Marchamo On Sale BeginningToday
Today the 2010 Marchamo goes on sale and the
Instituto Nacional de Seguros (INS) updated
its website to let vehicle owners know the
cost of mandatory annual circulation permit.
The INS is the collector of the circulation
permit which includes the mandatory
insurance, property and other taxes.
This year there will be 1.277 centres -
banks, supermarkets, authorized insurance
agents and INS offices - across the country
to pay the Marchamo.
To consult the cost of the 2010 Marchamo
visit the INS website at:
http://portal.ins-cr.com/marchamo/frmpagomarchamos.aspx
or call direct at 2243 9999 or 800
marchamo (800 627 2426).
You can also consult the cost of the
2010 Marchamo by sending a text message to:
4677 with the number of the license plate.
The Marchamo is due by December 31, after
which date the Policía de Tránsito will
start fining drivers of vehicles without the
sticker.
Note, to obtain the 2010 Marchamo the
vehicle MUST have a current Riteve
inspection. The INS system is tied in with
Riteve and will not allow the permit to be
issued.
In the event you are one of the tens of
thousands who has not had their vehicle
inspected, best do so as soon as possible,
as Riteve reports and increase in
appointments this month and like every
December, saturated with last minute
inspections.
To obtain a Riteve appointment visit:
http://www.rtv.co.cr/ where you
can choose the station, date and time of
your appointment, or call 905-788-0000.
Once the vehicle has passed the inspection,
Riteve will communicate with the INS. This
process is usually done overnight, with the
INS having the updated information the
following day. In the event, the update has
not reached the INS, it is reccommended that
you visit an INS office, with the Riteve
certificate in hand and ask for a
verification and update. Without it you
cannot purchase the 2010 Marchamo.
