Panama, Bill for Indigenous Languages

PANAMA -  National Assembly is focused on the possibility of making six indigenous languages official, in order to promote those languages learning.

The bill presented by region Ngobe Bugle National Assembly member, Crescencia Prado, tries to strengthen indigenous languages learning in parallel with the Spanish language.

Measure would include dialects such as Ngobe Buglé, Kuna, Emberá, Wounaan, Naso Teribe and Bri bri

According to the proposal, it would server as means of communication in schools and all public and private institutions, which are located in areas where people uses those dialects.

In the meantime, it tries to achieve the recognition of indigenous languages alphabets, which have certain characteristics.
