or 4.8, Yesterday's Quake Was Felt
Throughout The Central Valley
4.8 magnitude earthquake was registered at
4:02pm Thursday with an epicentre located 9
kilo
metres southwest of Tejar del Guarco,
Cartago, with a depth of 73 Kilometres.
The quake was recorded by the Observatorio
Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica (Ovsicori)
and the Universidad Nacional (UNA).
The Red Sismológica Nacional (RSN) of the
Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR), however,
put the quake at 4.1 on the Richter Scale
and the epicentre at 5km southeast of Tobosi
del Guarco, Cartago and a depth of 76 km.
The RSN reports that this month there have
been a total of 4 quakes surpassing the 4.0.
On the 16th, a 4.6 quake was recorded; the
13th, a 4.9; on the 9th a 4.7; and on the
1st a 4.1 quake was recorded.
