In Costa Rica Will Be Part of 2011
Volkswagens Original Equipment
Tires manufactured in Costa Rica will be
used in new Volkswagen vehicles beginning in
2011, following the signing of an agreement
between the German auto manufacturer and
Bridgestone.
The Bridgestone plant located in Belén, east
of the San José international airport, will
produce 200.000 tires that will be used at
the "fight wheel" or spare time as it is
more commonly known.
Volkswagen said the four main tires of the
sedans will be manufactured by Bridgestone
in Wilson, North Carolina.
Reymundo Ruiz, auditor for Volkswagen, said
the tires manufactured in Costa Rica will be
part of the new vehicle's original equipment
for vehicles to be produced in its Tennessee
plant.
Iván Salas, manager for quality control for
Bridgestone in Costa Rica, said that the
choice for the Costa Rican tire was made
after evaluation of other proposals. Salas
said that Volkswagen chose the Costa Rican
production for its excellent quality.
