FBI: Missing Boise Boy Found In Nicaragua
By KBOI Web Staff

BOISE - The FBI says a missing Boise boy taken by his non-custodial mother about a year and a half ago has been found in Nicaragua.

Max Gian with his father Marco

Max Gian Alcalde, who was 7 years old when he was reported missing back in November 2008, has been found in Nicaragua. He's been reunited with his father, Marco.

The boy's father says his ex-wife, picked up their son Max Gian from school back in November 2008l and then disappeared.

Marco has written an update on the boy's website:

"Even though the day is one for jest, I am so glad not to be much of a practical joker! On this April 1st I am looking into MaxGian's brilliant blue eyes for the first time in over sixteen months. I see a smile on my son, the one I have dreamed of seeing. We will soon be back in the US and home to Boise. More to follow soon."

MaxGians's mother, Margaret Sanchez Mejia Dunbar Alcalde, is wanted out of Ada County for second degree kidnapping. The FBI also said they're looking to charge her with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Boise Police says she's back in the U.S. at this time.

“The reunion with the child and his father has been months in the making," said Detective Bill Smith with Boise Police.

"We are very thankful for the help of the FBI, the U.S. State Department, the Nicaraguan National Police, and all those who helped find Max Gian, bring him home, and now will let the justice system take its course.”
