Police On Full Alert During Quema de Judas Tradition

The traditional "Quema de Judas" is on today and it has police on full alert for vandals for not only today, but also tomorrow Sunday.

The tradition usually takes places in the provinces of San José, Alajuela and Heredia and as such the Fuerza Pública will be keeping a close eye on all activities.

According to the sub-director of the Fuerza Pública, Pablo Bertozzi, special attention will be given to the communities of Pavas and Santa Ana in San José, Barva, San Rafael and Santa Barbara in Heredia and Tuetal Norte and Sur in Alajuela. These are communities that presented problems in the past.

"The tradition has become a joke for street bums and vandals who use the occasion to block streets, set fires and endanger lives and damage property", said Bertozzi.
