Five Presidents Confirm Attendance At WEF On Latin America

BOGOTA - Presidents of Barbados, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama and Dominican Republic have confirmed their attendance at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Latin America on April 6-8 in Cartagena, Colombia.

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe and WEF regional director Emilio Lozoya told a press conference Saturday that presidents of Mexico, Peru and Brazil were to confirm their attendance.

"We wish all these presidents would join us in this forum for Latin America in Cartagena for it is a transcendent opportunity not only for Colombia but for the region," Uribe said.

It will be the first time for the forum to be held in Colombia and the fifth time in Latin America. The event will host about 600 participants, including business leaders of big companies from around the world and 170 Colombian companies.

According to the WEF, the number of participants registered to attend the forum exceeded the previous ones held in Mexico in 2008 and Brazil in 2009.
