Semana Santa 2010 Fatalities
Drop
The number of deaths during Semana Santa
(Holy Week) saw a drop over last
year, with the Cruz Roja Costarricense
(Costa Rican Red Cross) reporting only 21
deaths, as compared to 32 last year and 55
in Semana Santa 2008.
Including the fatalities are eight drownings,
five murders, while the rest are by traffic
accidents and circumstances under
investigation by judicial officials.
The Cruz Roja also reports that is rescued
93 people from the country's beaches, of
which 37 had to be sent to hospital for
further attention. |
