You Decide. Is The Subject Of
The Video Really A UFO?
Wilberth Hernández, a correspondent for
local television channel 7 news,
Telenoticias, says he captured on film what
appears to be a UFO - Unidentified Flying
Object.
The video is being analyzed by experts.
To the naked eye it is difficult to say what
it is, but up close we can see a light that
apparently changes form.
Hernández says that several members of the
Ministerio de Seguridad Pública were present
when he filmed the apparent UFO. But, no one
else has come forth to lay claim.
What do you think? Are UFO's really visiting
Costa Rica? Is it for a delicious serving of
Gallo Pinto? Or maybe looking to Oscar Arias
to broker some intergalactic coup d'etat or
peace agreeement? Would it be called the San
José UFO Accord?
Or maybe they got news that Costa Rica has a
new president, a woman, and want to learn
all they can about this change in Tico
machismo?
Whatever, best keep an eye towards the
heavens.
According to Wikipedia, the Free
Encyclopedia, Unidentified flying object
(commonly abbreviated as UFO or U.F.O.) is
the popular term for any apparent aerial
phenomenon whose cause cannot identified.
The term Unidentified Flying Object has been
in use by the United States Air Force from
at least as early as February 1948 where it
was defined in terms of descriptive
characteristics such as shape, speed and
manoeuvrability. However in 1952 the USAF
more formally defined UFOs as those objects
that remain unidentified after scrutiny by
expert investigators, though today the term
UFO is colloquially used to refer to any
unidentifiable sighting regardless of
whether it has been investigated.
Another widely known acronym for UFO in
Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian is
OVNI (Objeto Volador No Identificado, with
variant regional spellings). Some
investigators now prefer to use the broader
term unidentified aerial phenomenon (or UAP),
to avoid the confusion and speculative
associations that have become attached to
UFO.
Though the term ExtraTerrestrial Vehicle (ETV)
is used for only a small subset of UFO
studies for many people the term UFO is
positively associated with alien spacecraft
and many discussions of UFOs revolve around
this presumption. While serious UFO
researchers maintain that Extraterrestrial
Intelligence (ETI) as a cause for UFOs
remains a speculative hypothesis only,
nevertheless many UFO enthusiasts,
contactees, and devotees have created
organizations and religions (for example The
Church of Scientology) that have adopted
extraterrestrial themes. It is therefore
fair to state that in general the
extraterrestrial UFO concept has evolved
into a prominent mythos in modern culture.
Unexplained aerial phenomena have been
reported throughout recorded history.
Some were undoubtedly astronomical in
nature: comets, bright meteors, one or more
of the five planets that can be seen with
the naked eye, planetary conjunctions, or
atmospheric optical phenomena such as
parhelia and lenticular clouds. An example
is Halley's Comet, which was recorded first
by Chinese astronomers in 240 B.C. and
possibly as early as 467 B.C.
UFOs have been subject to investigations
over the years that vary widely in scope and
scientific rigor. Governments or independent
academics in the United States, Canada, the
United Kingdom, Japan, Peru, France,
Belgium, Sweden, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay,
Mexico, Spain, and the Soviet Union are
known to have investigated UFO reports at
various times.
