Define Candidatures
BOGOTA - Major political adversaries on the
way to the May 30 presidential elections in
Colombia on Monday define their choices of
candidatures.
Amid internal partisan controversies,
conservative hopeful Noemi Sanin stated
today she will legally register her
potential vice president.
It was revealed that Luis Ernesto Mejia,
former mining minister and official during
the first term of the Alvaro Uribe
government, would be Sanin's presidential
ticket.
Meanwhile, Medellin's former mayor Sergio
Fajardo finally clarified he is willing to
be the ticket of Antanas Mockus, the
candidate for the Green party.
According to polls, the Mockus-Fajardo
presidential ticket appears third, after
Juan Manuel Santos, from the U Party, and
Sann, from the conservative.
If no candidate wins half plus one of valid
votes in the elections to choose the
president and vice president, then a runoff
would be held in June. |
