Central America For Tighter
Border Control
SAN SALVADOR - Representatives of Central
American immigration offices gathered in
this capital on Thursday to discuss projects
to strengthen the struggle against drug and
people trafficking.
During the opening of the 31st regular
meeting of the Central American Commission
of Immigration Directors (OCAM), Salvadorean
Minister of Justice and Security Manuel
Melgar considered necessary to coordinate
and strengthen efforts against drug
trafficking, organized crime and people
smuggling in the region.
Meanwhile, Salvadorean Immigration Chief
Ruben Alvarado proposed to tighten border
control.
Immigration Chief of Guatemala, pro tempore
president of OCAM, said that Central America
must also fight strongly corruption and
organized crime.
