Honduras: Journalists
Murdered Amount to Six
TEGUCIGALPA - The number of press
professionals murdered during the last year
in Honduras amounted to six after an
announcer of the W105 radio station was
killed recently.
Luis Antonio Cheves was riddled with bullets
by four men who made him get off of his car
as he was visiting Fesitranh estate, the
Tiempo daily reported on Monday.
Julio Cesar Cheves, the announcer's cousin
and electrical engineering student, was also
during the attack.
Radio workers condemned the new
assassination and collected funds to buy
coffins for the victims.
Joseph Ochoa from Channel 51 in Tegucigalpa,
David Meza (El Patio radio station in the
city of La Ceiba), Jose Bayardo Mairena and
Victor Manuel Juarez (Super 10 radio station
in Olancho), and Nahum Palacios (Television
del Aguan in Colon) were also killed
violently in Honduras in the last year.
