U.S. Promises Anti-Drug Aid
To Bolivia
LA PAZ - The U.S. government promised on
Monday an aid of 80 million U.S. dollars to
Bolivia for its fight against drug
trafficking in 2010.
John Creamer,officer in charge of business
of the U.S. embassy to Bolivia, said that
the administration of the U.S. President
Barak Obama remained as Bolivia's ally in
the fight against the illegal trafficking of
drugs and it recognized the nation's efforts
in these tasks.
There was a cooperation program for 2010 of
55 million dollars, which added to the
anti-drug program of a total of 80 million
dollars, Creamer said.
"We continue being important partner of the
Bolivian government and we support the
rationalization programs of the coca
harvests, the interdiction and the
prevention," Creamer added.
According to him, the U.S. government is
committed to supporting the National
Development Program of the Bolivian
government.
The U.S. office for Latin America presented
a common strategy with Bolivia, Colombia,
Ecuador and Peru to stop the drug
trafficking.
Peru, Colombia and Bolivia are the three
main producers of coca leaves in the world.
