Rodríguez Et Al To Trial Tomorrow

The courtroom in the Tribuanles de Goicochea has sat empty since Wednesday when the start of the trial against former Costa Rica president, Miguel Angel Rodríguez and eight others was suspended due to medical problems of one of the accused.



However, at 7:30am Monday (tomorrow), the courtroom will be filled with the accused, their lawyers, the fiscales, four judges (three sitting and on supply in the case of one of the judges becoming incapacitated and the general public.

Its been more than five years since the allegations of corruption in 2004 stemming from the contract awarded by the Instituto Costarricesne de Electricidad (ICE) awarding the us$150 million contract to the French telecom, Alcatel, to install Costa Rica's first GSM cellular network, in 2001.

Rodriguez, who was president from 1998 to 2002.
