Toyota Recalls Prado Sold In Costa Rica

Purdy Motor de Costa Rica, the exclusive new car dealer for Toyota in Costa Rica, has issued a recall of 2010 Land Cruiser Prado models sold between October 2009 and this month.

In total 79 vehicle owners will be asked to bring their vehicle back to the shop to update the suspension software used by the vehicle.

Luis Mastroeni said that the vehicles could slide sideways at high speeds over 100 km/h, due to the insufficient activation of the vehicle stability-control system.

The recall is part of Toyota's world wide recall of 34.000 Lexus GX460 and Land Cruiser Prado.

To reduce the risk of sliding, Toyota will enhance the system software.

The automaker also has announced a recall on all Prius vehicles produced this year — 433,000 worldwide - because of problems with the brakes.
