Costa Rica's Imperial Beer A Hit In Dallas, Texas

Tina Danze, writing for dallasnews.com's food section has this to say about Costa Rica's national beer, the Imperial: "It's a good warm-weather beer. It's kind of like Corona, only a lot smoother, and without the skunky finish. You don't have to put lime in it to enjoy it."
 
Imperial is the national beer of Costa Rica, where its iconic logo shows up on everything from T-shirts to surfboards.

"Imperial is a good beer for outdoor activities, like barbecues and sitting by the pool," Gomez says. Serve it with Mexican and Thai food", Erik Gomez, bar manager at Angry Dog in Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas, told Danze.

The a six pack sells in Dallas for $7.99.

In Costa Rica, a six pack sells at the Automercado for around ˘1.500 (us$3 dollars at the current exchange rate).

Imperial was first produced by the Ortega brewery in 1924, and is now produced in the Cerveceria Costa Rica  the Florida Ice & Farm Company) in San José .

The lager is one of the most popular beer consumed in Costa Rica along with Pilsen and Rock Ice.
