Chavez Calls to Guarantee the
Peace
CARACAS - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
called the Armed Forces on Wednesday to be
prepared to guarantee the peace and
maintaining Simon Bolivarâ�Ös
pro-independent ideals.
"I invite you to build up the soul and the
mind, and to continue training for
guarantying the peace", said Chavez to the
military that participated at the farewell
ceremony for Cuba's President Raul Castro.
Chavez congratulated also the Armed Forces
on the Bicentennial of Independence, marked
last April 19 with a military parade, at the
International Airport of Maiquetia.
"We are soldiers not to kneel down but to
feel us as Bolivar's sons. I want you to
feel that you are an essential part of this
homeland", he pointed out.
According to the President, the military who
receive and bid farewell to foreign leaders
are witnesses of a new homeland, witnesses
of a process of change.
