100.000 Without Water On Saturday

More than 100.000 people were without water and some without electricity on Saturday, as the Fuerza y Luz (power and light company) carried out maintenance work on its power lines, cutting off power to the Puente de Mulas pumping station that provided water to the communities of Escazú, Alajuelita and Desamparados.

Residents of Desamparados and Escazú were without water, while those of Alajuelita Centro also without electricity.

The cut to power came about 8am and the restoration began around 2pm, although it was not until after 6pm that everyone was with water and electricity.

The maintenance work included changing transformers, repairing lightning rods and exchanging breakers, among other work.
