Chavez:
Only
Socialism
Can
Solve
Human
Tragedies

Venezuelan
President
Hugo
Chavez
said
Saturday
that the
socialist
model of
development
is the
only
solution
for the
social
and
environmental
problems
of the
planet.
According
to
Chavez,
the
human
tragedy
seen in
14
Venezuelan
states
in the
last few
weeks
due to
torrential
rains
shows
the need
to
implement
that
system.
"Now
more
than
ever, we
must
have a
more
humane
redistribution
in
economic
and
social
terms,
which
implies
a
deepening
of the
democratic
Revolution:
the
speeding
up of
the
march
toward
socialism,
which is
the
solution
to these
tragedies,"
Chavez
said on
his
regular
Sunday
opinion
column,
Las
Lineas
de
Chavez.
The
recent
torrential
rains
left
tens of
thousands
of
victims
and
damage
to roads
and
housing
in
states
such as
Falcon,
Zulia,
Miranda,
and the
Capital
District.
The
Venezuelan
leader
said
these
negative
effects
on
thousands
of
Venezuelans
are the
result
of the
inequality
still
prevailing
in the
country.
