A joint
Bolivian/Venezuelan
corps
comprising
soldiers
from
both
countries
assisted
nearly
60,000
families
affected
by
disasters
in
Bolivia.
The Gran
Mariscal
de
Ayacucho
General
en Jefe
Antonio
José de
Sucre
Binational
Force
has been
working
for the
last
three
years on
the
reconstruction
of Beni
province,
seriously
devastated
by
weather-related
phenomena,
and on
solving
problems
in Pando
and
Santa
Cruz.
In all
three
provinces,
59,194
families
were
benefited
at the
end of
the
group's
mission,
officially
celebrated
in that
eastern
department,
reported
the
state
newspaper
Cambio.
The
works
corps,
created
in
August
21,
2007,
also
built a
dam in
the
western
part of
Suarez
Lake in
Beni to
prevent
floodwaters
from
reaching
the city
of
Trinidad.
Other
activities
assumed
by corps
members
were the
improvement
of
towns,
educational
facilities
and
sports
fields;
the
cleaning
of
channels,
and
support
for
public
institutions
and
military
units.
