ICE
Recommends
If you,
like the
hundreds
of
thousands
of
others,
plan on
sending
your
holiday
wishes
by text
message,
don't be
disappointed
if the
message
doesn't
arrive
on time
or get
through
at all.
The
Instituto
Costarricense
de
Electricidad
(ICE)
says it
is
prepared,
but the
expected
100
million
text
messages
may
overload
the
system
and
message
may not
get
through
on time.
According
to
reports
from
ICE, the
cellular
network
has a
capacity
of
3.000.500
messages
sent per
second,
however,
during
the
holidays,
the
number
of sent
messages
could
exceed
the
processing
capacity,
and this
is
reflected
in
delays
in
sending
and
receiving
texts.
According
to ICE
spokesman
said,
Elberth
Duran,
message
traffic
works
just
like a
highway,
so it is
recommended
to send
messages
in the
morning.
Duran
also
said
that ICE
took the
provisions
to
ensure
the
proper
flow of
messages
during
Christmas
and New
Year.
