Nicaragua To Send
Medical Student Team To Haiti
MANAGUA - The Nicaraguan government said on
Friday it would send a team of medical
students to Haiti next week to provide
humanitarian assistance.
The announcement came after a team of
Nicaraguan doctors returned home from
quake-stricken Haiti on Friday.
The doctors who have offered medical
services to more than 12,000 patients in
Haiti said that the situation in Haiti was
disastrous and the Haitian people needed
help to rebuild their lives now more than
ever.
Nicaraguan government spokeswoman Rosario
Murillo said on Friday that Nicaragua will
continue offering humanitarian aid to the
victims of the earthquake, which killed at
least 200,000, according to Haitian
authorities.
Another brigade of the Nicaraguan Army has
left for Haiti on Wednesday to offer
humanitarian aid to the Haitians, "who are
suffering the consequences of this
catastrophe and facing health and mental
problems," Murillo added.
