Latin American Students Aim at Integration

HAVANA - The Latin American and Caribbean Continental Students Organization (OCLAE) has included promoting regional integration and strengthening the actions by member countries among its objectives, said Chair Yordanis Charchaval.

During a session of the meeting of the organization leaders on Friday, the students stressed the need of restructuring the International Union of Students so that they play a more decisive role in their nations' struggles.

According to Juventud Rebelde daily, the participants insisted on spreading more the tasks of both groups to recover its strength and consolidate alliances with other student organizations.

They ratified their support to Haiti for its recovery, demanded the release of five Cuban antiterrorists imprisoned in the United States, and condemned the decision of establishing military stations in Colombia, with the presence of US soldiers.

The OCLAE includes 36 federations from 23 countries, and groups and represents more than 110 million secondary and higher-education students.
