Chinchilla Leads In Early Vote Count

The Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones (TSE) announced the first numbers of today's voting, with 11.35% of the votes counted, Laura Chinchilla holds a firm lead with 48.66% of the votes, followed by Ottón Solís with 22.46% and Otto Guevara with 22.46%.

Laura at this point has more support that the next two rivals combined. However, there is still more vote counting to do before any real indication of who will win this election and if Laura can obtain the required 40% of the vote to stay off a run off election.

The TSE will me making periodic updates to the vote count as the evening continues.
