Satisfaction Over
Argentine-Brazil Talks
BUENOS AIRES - Brazilian Foreign Affaire
minister, Celso Amorim, qualified as
satisfactory the negotiations with Argentina
as part of the first session of the
Bilateral Ministerial Commission created in
2009. Immediately after conclusion of the
talks they held a press conference
explaining that both parts are involved in
finding solutions looking to the future, not
the past.
Amorim pointed out that both countries have
problems caused by the world financial
crisis and now are moving to productive
integration that is a promising development.
His Argentine counterpart, Jorge Taiana,
agreed in considering that results of the
talk were positive and added that all
subjects were covered that strengthen
bilateral ties.
He added that there was an analysis of
economic and financial issues emphasizing
bilateral trade and mutual positions in an
agreement between MERCOSUR and the European
Union (EU).
He expressed his satisfaction to the press
adding that important advances were made in
preparation of the agenda for the coming
visit of Brazilian president, Luiz Inacio
Lula da Silva.
Argentine Minister of Economy, Amado Boudu,
added that the two countries are very
important trade partners and denied
insistence of some media regarding recent
difficulties in bilateral exchanges.
He explained that these meeting every 90
days, as agreed upon in November of 2009 in
Brasilia between Lula da Silva and Argentine
president, Christina Fernandez reveal that
all problems can be surpassed.
For his part, Brazilian Minister of Finance,
Guido Mantega, assured a strong economic
recovery in both countries this year with
predictions of growth above five percent for
each.
He added that a broad study was made in the
meeting regarding the international
situation by which both parts reached the
conclusion that the scenario is very
favorable for the economies of Brazil and
Argentina.
Deborg Giorgi, Argentine minister of
Industry and Tourism expressed her favorable
position of productive integration between
the two neighbors and affirmed that there
are promising perspectives of bilateral
trade with recovery during the second half
of 2009 with a 43 percent increase of
Argentine purchases in recent months. |
