Chilean President-Elect
Pledges To Seek
Balanced Cabinet
SANTIAGO - Chilean
President-elect Sebastian Pinera said Sunday
that he would announce his cabinet on
Tuesday, which will have a "just balance"
between the political and technical
formations.
"We have made a great effort for the cabinet
not to be crossed or contaminated by the bad
practices," Pinera told local daily "El
Mercurio."
Pinera said the cabinet will be balanced
with the experienced capable political
formation and the experienced capable
technical, academic and professional
formation.
He announced he would create an autonomous
organization to supervise all of the
ministries.
"Our project is aimed to launch a new era of
governance, with a new relationship between
the government and the citizens, to generate
a renascence, so by 2018 it will be a
developed country without poverty," Pinera
said.
Pinera will take office on March 11, staging
a comeback for his right-wing opposition to
power in Chile after 52 years of defeat in
elections.
