More than 161 Tons of
Drugs Seized in Bolivia
LA PAZ - Only
in January, the Special Force against Drug
Trafficking of Bolivia (FELCN) seized more
than 161 tons of cocaine and marihuana in
the whole national territory, said local
newspaper Cambio.
The work is a result of 750 operations in
Santa Cruz, Cochabamba and La Paz.
FELCN members destroyed 334 factories, a
crystallization plant and 461 places for
maceration, and arrested more than 251
people, including Bolivian and foreigners
alike.
FELCN Director, Colonel Felix Molina, said
the effectiveness of the police corps in
fighting drug trafficking has been shown and
will be increased with the creation of two
more special groups for investigating and
finding fortunes made by drug traffickers.
The National Police informed on the arrest
of two Colombian citizens with more than 300
kilos of cocaine in Santa Cruz.
Jorge Romero, director of FELCN in Santa
Cruz, said that they received information on
how the arrested people wanted to install a
laboratory with the same techniques used by
the Colombian drug cartels. |
