Costa Rica On The Hunt For More Italian Tourists

A recent study by the Cámara Nacional de Turismo (Canatur) shows that Costa Rica is losing attractiveness for Italian tourists over the last decade.  Canatur said that less and less Italians are choosing Costa Rica as their vacation destination and for such it is organization a trade mission to attract more Italians.

According to Canatur figures only 18.497 Italian tourists came to Costa Rica in 2009, placing Italy in fifth place among European tourists. The largest number of European tourists are from Spain, followed by German and British.

To combat the drop a number of Costa Rican  tourism operators are taking part in the Bolsa Internacional de Turismo BIT 2010 Milan ( International Tourism Exchange) or "Fiera Milano", that runs from February 18 to 21, in the hunt for more Italian tourists.

Bit 2010 is the number one event in Italy, and one of the leading events for the tourism sector. Its objective is to monitor the market, listen, and exchange ideas and information with exhibitors and operators.

In 2010, 300 national and international sellers and 160 buyers from 11 different countries will be participate in Bit, with the main objective to seize new business opportunities in one of the fastest-growing segments.

Travelers and operators get to view and experience the tourist destinations around the world.
