Panama House Ponders
on New Ministries
PANAMA - Creation of the Public Security and
Interior Ministries will be among the issues
for discussion in the Panamanian Parliament
next week, after the initiative was approved
by the Executive.
According to parliamentary sources, the new
institutions will replace the current
Government and the Justice Ministry Board.
The Public Security Ministry is expected to
comprise services of National Borders,
Migration, and Aeronautics, as well as the
National Police and Judicial Investigation
Board.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry will have
departments for indigenous policy, mails,
passports, local governments, the
penitentiary system, national assistance to
refugees, civil aeronautics, and traffic and
land transportaiton, among others.
That ministry will be in charge of drawing
up the governmental policy for internal
public order, people's participation,
socio-political organization, legal affairs,
and emergency assistance and disasters. |
