Honduran Teachers on Strike

TEGUCIGALPA  - Honduran teachers went on strike demanding to collect off the arrears and rejected a disposition of facto regime to put forward the beginning of the course.

The teachers claim the expenditure of the indebted wages to more than 3 500 teachers and also the money they usually received from the Honduran Social Adjustment Program and Educational Quality.

According to Alejandro Ventura, magisterial leader, the teacher's majority won't go to the schools until the authorities pay the outstanding debt.

The teachers accused the regime, which carried out the coup , to appropriate the magistracy founds. They announced the possibility to accuse the present Finance Minister Gabriela Nunez.

They denounced that after the coup of June 28 to President Manuel Zelaya the agreement of guarantying free registration in state schools stopped.

Roberto Micheletti regime violates the current educational laws after releasing a new disposition to end the course one month earlier and to put forward the new course.

According to the announcement of the Federation of Magisterial Organizations of Honduras ratifies the teachers won't go to the schools till February 1 as established in the Educational Law.
