Quake of 4.6 Degrees
Shakes El Salvador
SAN SALVADOR - A quake of 4.6 degrees in the
open Richter scale shook the coasts of east
El Salvador without reporting victims or
material damages, as told by Salvadorian
authorities Wednesday.
The National Service of Territorial Studies
said the quake was located 40.3 miles south
of La Cheposa, in front of the coasts of
Usulutan.
An official report said the quake had a
depth of 14.6 kilometers (9.7 miles) so it
was practically imperceptible.
The Nicaraguan coasts were also shaken by
another telluric movement, 5.2 degrees in
the Richter scale, which did not cause any
victims or damages
Central American specialists are keeping
alert because of the situation after the
devastating quake in Haiti a week ago.
A series of quakes have occurred since then,
some of medium intensity. But scientists do
not give any connection between these quakes
and the faults causing the earthquake in
Haiti.
