Costa Rica's Red Cross Raises $429,000 For Haiti

The Cruz Roja Costarricense (Costa Rica's Red Cross) says it t has so far received us$429,000 dollars in donation from companies and individuals for quake-torn Haiti.

Costa Ricans in a national campaign also donated 10 tons of food, medicine, water and other necessities which were collected and packed by the national youth commission and  more than other 100 groups.

The money will go directly to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, according to Miguel Carmona, president of Costa Rica's Cruz Roja.

Donations in Costa Rica can be made by a direct deposit at the Banco de Costa Rica (BCR):
