Quake Hit Costa Rica Central And South Pacific Zones

A moderate earthquake shook the ground in some 30 kilometres southeast of Golfito in Costa Rica's southern zone, (65 km) west of David, Panama.

The quake registered 5.2 on the Ricther scale, with a depth of 29 kilometres at 3:08am Saturday. It was followed by a 4.7 magnitude quake 35 minutes later. GMT), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

On Friday, the Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica (OVSICORI) reported a 5.0 quake located northeast of Parrita, at a 46 kilometre depth.

Parrita is located in Central Pacific zone, about 25 kilometres southeast of JacÓ.

The Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) - National Emergency Commission - did not report any injuries or damages in either quakes.
