2010 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS
Presidential Candidates Debate On Live Television Tonight

Costa Ricans will be able to see in action, on live television tonight the three top presidential candidates, in a debate that is sure to spark controversy and increase tensions.

Front runner Laura Chinchilla of the PLN party, trailing Otto Guevara of the ML party and third place Ottón Solís of the PAC party, will square off in a debate sponsored by channel 7's Teletica.

The debate is set for 9pm.

The moderator will allow the candidates to aks each other questions and will control the air time spent by each candidate for an even distribution.

The Solís campaign has focused on portraying Chinchilla as a puppet of president Arias and Costa Rican powers behind the scenes and attacking Guevara's source of campaign financing."

Guevara has attacked personally Chinchilla, calling her a liar about her personal finances. Chinchilla has responded by taking legal action against Guevara.

Strangly enough, neither of the top two candidates have focused on attacking Solís as he trails in third place with 13.7% of the vote, in contrast to Guevara's 30.4% and Chinchilla's 40.9%, according to the latest poll released by Angus Reid Global Monitor.

It is not sure the political strategy that will be used tonight by the candidates. But, rest assured that all three candidates have employed the best minds to bring forth the best political strategy with only two weeks before Costa Ricans go to the polls.
