Venezuelans to Mark
the End of 1958 Dictatorship

CARACAS - Hugo Chavez' supporters and
opponents will demonstrate in separated
marches on Saturday to mark dictator Marcos
Perez Jimenez' overthrow in 1958.
Chavez called last Sunday to a huge march
and mass meeting in the Presidential Palace
to vindicate people and military that rose
up against the dictator of Perez Jimenez.
Coordinator of the demonstration in Caracas
of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela
Carlos Sierra said to Prensa Latina that
since 9:00 (local time) people will be in
the western part of the capital, in the
eastern part will be the opponents.
According to Sierra, the opponents to the
revolutionary process began in 1999 had
announced violent actions by cell phones
messages.
However, Sierra said that they hope this
will not occur.
Tareck El Aissami, Interior and Justice
Minister said on Friday that 5.560 policemen
will ensure the order in the demonstrations. |
