Strengthened in Cartagena de Indias
CARTAGENA DE INDIAS, Colombia - With
an institutional strengthening of the
Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and
the commitment with Haiti reconstruction
ended in this city the 15th Meeting of the
Ministerial Council of this organization.
During the 2-days meeting, delegates from
the 15 countries of the region discussed the
situation in Haiti and the steps to
guarantee the smooth running of the
organization.
Cuba was represented by the Deputy Minister
of Foreign Affairs Abelardo Moreno
Moreno highlighted the validity of the
founding goals and its purposes. He also
reiterated Cubaâ�Ös commitment with its
straightening.
He stressed the development of the Caribbean
Sea Commission and called for achieving the
ratifications needed to force the unresolved
agreements.
Cuba�s Deputy Minister said it is important
that the ACS adjusted its work to the
current situation in the region with new
cooperation.
In the meeting Nicaragua took on the
Presidency of the Board, Cuba and Mexico
assumed the Deputy Presidency and Suriname
the Secretary. |
