High Tide Alert For
the Pacific Coast
The Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) -
National Emergency Commission - has declared
a "green alert" for the Pacific coastal
areas due to rising tide.
According to the CNE report the tides are
expected to reach 3.5 metres or more, the
highest in the last five years.
It is believed that the rising tide could
cause flooding in some beaches along the
Pacific coast, with the tallest waves
expected on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities are asking bathers to avoid the
waters during the high tides to avoid
accidents, as many take advantage of the
last week of vacation before back to school,
given that next weekend are the presidential
elections.
Some of the areas of major concern for the
CNE are Caldera, Isla de Damas, Cuajiniquil
and Sámara in Guanacaste. |
